How this calculator works
- 1Convert the guaranteed analysis percentage to a decimal and divide the nutrient target by it to get product pounds.
- 2Convert dollars per ton to dollars per pound using 2,000 pounds per U.S. ton.
- 3Calculate material cost per acre, then add the separate application cost and scale across acres.
Reading the result
- Use the analysis for the nutrient being compared; a blended grade contains separate N, phosphate, and potash percentages.
- This is a cost conversion, not a nutrient recommendation. Use soil tests and local Extension or crop-adviser guidance to set rates.
- Freight, stabilizers, loss risk, timing, equipment limits, and multiple nutrients can change the true economic comparison.
